Sneak Peek: Aaron & Tamara’s Wedding

Aaron is an awesome guy, and also a good co-worker for a number of years. So I'm familiar with what a hard worker he is, how uproarious his laughter is, and just how cool it is to be around the guy. But you know who knows him way more than me? The lovely Tamara. Tamara has been a great friend over the years too, and I knew her before she and Aaron were officially dating, but as she tells it, she 'had her eye on him for a looooong time.'

Richard and Dachele will be getting married this weekend, and I just wanted to post some of my favorites from their engagement shoot before they tie the knot!  I’ve taken a few engagement shots at the wonderful Highline park in NoHo, and the place just screams to be photographed.  Abundant greenery, overgrown style, and a smooth industrialism that oozes coolness.  I came here the very first time with my cousin Jonathan, who wrote an excellent post on the Highline Park.  A great read, if  Read more

Ahhh, I love this job… Second picture is my personal favorite with the perfect expression!

Aaron and Tamara have both been my friends for years.  I worked with Aaron before in the same Tech Department, and now am helping him buy a camera and some lenses. (Go Nikon!) I met Tamara with a few other friends way back when, and have always thought her to be a great sister; funny, caring, and hardworking.

Together, oh my goodness, they produce some of the biggest smiles I have ever seen and I was glad to capture a couple (hundred) good ones on our engagement shoot last week.   Read more

Wedding: Mike & Iveth

The day started out with a nice patch of sun, which eventually flipped to a rainy thunderstorm! Even on days where the weather doesn't work out, there are always great pictures to be had indoors. As long as there's love, there will be great pictures. Or um,... at least, where there's love, and a decent photographer.

Human: At the Heart of the Image

Again, this isn't another "It's not the camera..." post. Why? In those posts, people hint that the camera is the great and perfect tool, and if you make garbage images, you are solely responsible. It implies that the camera is on a higher level that you as a clueless user, need to reach. Let's turn that around.

Instead of focusing on the photographer's faults, focus on what the camera lacks
