This Blog has MOVED!

And split into two, actually!

Previously, joshliba.wordpress.com was a blog for both the work and portfolio of Josh Liba Photography, and sometimes featured non-wedding related posts like how-to, processing tips, camera tips and techniques.

Both of these have been expanded and now inhabit two easy to find blogs:

Joshliba.com: The main Josh Liba domain is now a complete website portfolio and blog in one website.  If you’re looking specifically for the blog posts (which will now only be limited to Weddings, Engagements and Portrait Photography showcasing), you can jump directly to joshliba.com/blog

Josh Liba Answers:  What about all the handy how-to posts and the photography tips and techniques?  Well, I field a lot of questions every week from photographers that haven’t been able to find a direct and easy-to-understand answer to their photography questions.

I can relate – Sometimes finding the answer to a specific photography question requires searching through hundreds of search result pages, and countless forum posts with varying opinions and techniques.

I created Josh Liba Answers because I love answering questions and helping people get the answers that they want and understand.  I also work with whatever level the photographer is at, and their photography budget!  So many times I see photography questions answered with condescending disrespect, bias, and un-helpful gear recommendations.

Check out the new Josh Liba Answers blog too!

There will be ONE more half-post on this wordpress.com site, coming up this week, detailing how I got married and moved my life to Colombia.  It will just be the first part of the story!   If you want to read the full account, you’ll need to be on the new blog at joshliba.com/blog !

IF YOU WERE SUBSCRIBED TO THIS BLOG, you will need to RE-SUBSCRIBE to the blog at joshliba.com/blog to receive new post notifications by e-mail.

Thanks for supporting this site and continuing to follow my work and me.  I really am grateful for everyone’s views and comments and hope to see you at the new blogs!

Richard and Dachele will be getting married this weekend, and I just wanted to post some of my favorites from their engagement shoot before they tie the knot!  I’ve taken a few engagement shots at the wonderful Highline park in NoHo, and the place just screams to be photographed.  Abundant greenery, overgrown style, and a smooth industrialism that oozes coolness.  I came here the very first time with my cousin Jonathan, who wrote an excellent post on the Highline Park.  A great read, if  Read more

Josh (Me) & Vanessa: Engaged!

OK... I'll try not to be too corny, but you know how much of a hopeless romantic I am.

Vanessa and I met a few years ago, in New York. She was visiting from Colombia, and we had mutual friends and went to a party.

I thought she was pretty for sure, but not somebody that I would date.
She thought I was a nice guy, and a good dancer (her words) but nothing sparked...

Ahhh, I love this job… Second picture is my personal favorite with the perfect expression!

Aaron and Tamara have both been my friends for years.  I worked with Aaron before in the same Tech Department, and now am helping him buy a camera and some lenses. (Go Nikon!) I met Tamara with a few other friends way back when, and have always thought her to be a great sister; funny, caring, and hardworking.

Together, oh my goodness, they produce some of the biggest smiles I have ever seen and I was glad to capture a couple (hundred) good ones on our engagement shoot last week.   Read more

Ena & Jason: Engagement in the great indoors

This blog has been moved to joshliba.com/blog, and you are currently viewing an archived post.  To visit the new blog, click here!

On a Sunday Afternoon, Ena and Jason invited me to take their engagement pictures at Ena’s house.  I had been there before and remembered some nice trees outside and a pool area and green grass all around that we could use.  However, when we finally met up, it was stormy and rainy outdoors!  No problem, we just needed to find some creative options indoors in tighter spaces.

Any window makes for terrific quality light, and to my delight, this house had a LOT of windows. Big ones!

Here are some of my favorites from our rainy day engagement session indoors.  Near the end of the set, the rain stopped outside and we went out onto the porch for some final shots. Read more

Tito & Samady are Engaged! (and Nikon D7000 = ISO Awesomeness)

Tito and Samady are engaged! Shot with the new Nikon D7000. I'm continually blown away with the ISOs that I can get away with on the D7000 body, besting the ISO noise performance of my pro-body D300s.
